I have an 84 Vanagon, some time ago when the reservoir was a bit low this idiot light came on, located in middle of temp gauge.. I have since filled the low level, but the light stays on. Any idea how to reset??

There is no way to 'reset' the warning light; it's triggered by a sensor in the coolant pressure tank. There are typically only two things which can trigger the sensor: low coolant levels, or cruddy hard-water deposits on the sensor.

If you've confirmed that you have adequate coolant, then a dirty sensor is probably the culprit. Either clean it with vinegar and a mild abrasive pad, or replace with new.

Good luck!

Thanks, it wasn't that low, took about a quart. I guess I will pull it and give it a clean.

Just so there is no misunderstanding -- this is the tank that must be full:
