Does anybody run a 1776 with a single 40IDF and has problems with fouling plugs? I use 150 main jet, 160 air jet and 65 idle jets. I think the accelerator pump jet is 75. I have changed the jets a few times , tweaked the idle mixture screws to mu wits end. the last oil change there was gas in the oil. Has anybody experienced similar issues? Can anything else help? This is basically a brand new carb with maybe 100 miles on it. Mighty obliged. |

I dont believe your gas in oil problem is coming from the carb.My dual 44s run extremely rich and i get black smoke but no gas in oil.I think you have a defective fuel pump with a leaking diaphragm. You always wantto run a aircooled motor on the rich side.It runs cooler that way. |

Yes it does. The unburned fuel cools the combustion process. |

Look at this chart-running rich causes more heat, and is less efficient. In addition it leads to fouled plugs and excessive carbon build up.
