If you're good with a jig saw and don't mind polishing for hours on end, you should consider making your own

Busdaddy, does the 74 emblem use the same size as yours? Also, do you happen to know if a 74 camp mobile had a factory spare up front or just the emblem?

No, the emblem got smaller and went plastic in 73, ~7" IIRC.
A North American delivered Campmobile would have had an emblem up front and a collapsible spare in the cabinet under the sink. The only "factory" front spare mounting was a modification done by Westfalia and looked like this:

Unless your bumper is extended out ~8" with a well welded into the middle of the deformation member the dealer or a PO added that rivet on spare mount.

My guess would be 250 mm. 9 7/8 is 250.825 mm. The engineers at VW tend to be somewhat anal about exactness.

All I had handy was an imperial tape measure, I'm sure it's 250mm as VW didn't use inches.

Actually the early bay thru I think 1972 had the larger emblem and 73 on the smaller one. As I recall, there isn't much difference in how people reacted to the two sizes as I can't ever recall young ladies walking by whispering to one another ("oooooh. that nose emblem is so big...."

So even though the first bus is bigger, which one do you think gets more action.

I found one on eBay. I think I paid around $75. There's enough for sale (not at the same time) that you need to pick a price and don't budge from it. Mine is weathered, aka some rust and pitting. I'm happier I picked up an old one vs. a repo.

Funny how sometimes you pay more for rusty bits. Also picked up a vintage license plate frame this weekend to add more character to the bus.

no wonder the things get stolen if people will pay $75 each to get them back.

Try buying an orange bar Porsche emblem. That'll make you pucker.

Thanks Wink I'm going to get rid of my spare up front, I'm trying to shoot for collectors status and also for nostalgia sake. It's funny but when I first came on the scene I wanted to slam my bay and have porsche rims and tires but now after doing it, I actually prefer the classic look. I was very fortunate to score a nice campmobile w minimal rust to restore. So I feel like I want to keep it all original as its a perfect specimen. Thanks for the info, now I need to find the emblem.....

The 7" emblem on the bus on the right is positioned too low.
