MadMax78/Bursch, et. al.,

2X What Stuart says about Das Mule/Mule Expedition Outfitters!!!

Things they have of particular interest to you:

Head Lights:
1) Peterson 7" LED.
2) Pilot 7" LED.

Off-Road Lights:
1) VisionX Xmitter Prime LED Light Bar.
2) VisionX 4.5" LED Light Cannons.

Fuel/Water Storage Systems:
Rotopax: 1gal., 1.75g, 2g, 3g, & 4g containers. BTW, the 4gal. will fit between the frame rails of a Bay Bus. The 2gal containers can snap together at their bases to make a 4gal container, and all sizes can be stacked together, with the various mounting hardware available.

They also stock a variety of expedition off-road/camping products from ARB (Australia--and you know those blokes are REALLY into their outback camping!), such as:
A variety of 12 volt refrigerated coolers.
Awnings and tents.
Camp stoves, composite gas bottles, and related hardware and products.
Winches, recovery straps, and related hardware.
Das Mule custom rock sliders (their own product).

And much, much more!

Seriously folks, you need to check these guys out! They have a mail order business and a store front in Issaquah, WA. They`ve researched everything they sell and stand 100% behind them. (And Joe and Dana are VERY nice people---tell them Lynn sent you!)

I have been following your exploits for years, and you remain an inspiration to us all!

Lynn

Your thoughts on this...
At first I was trying to decide between the TruckLite headlights and the JW Speaker headlights. Now I see there's GE nighthawks and I don't know which to choose for my bus.

$270 for headlights? Nope.

WordKC HiLites would be fine in place of this

The GE's are indeed rebadged trucklite's. Not sure which ones to get yet, there are a few other brands out there, like JW speaker. The GE's are listed as drop in replacements for the T2.

I'm not so sure about the look the the JW's though, they kind of look like eyes which look a bit weird on some vehicles. But totally depends on the vehicle and color. As far as looks go, I think the trucklite/nighthawks are a safer choice.

I checked them out and they indeed have a pretty awesome bus with some nice lighting on it. Like I said before, will be quite a while before we start working on changing the lighting. First got to change the whole bullbar design.

The rotopax fuel containers are pretty nice, but we need something that will use all the available space to maximize fuel capacity, we need to store at least 50 liters (13 gal). Also I think we'll be installing a permanent tank with it's own fuel filler and fit a pump to transfer to the main tank.

I would be interested in sliders. I was thinking about doing kind of an exo-cage that would tie the front and rear skid plate and run the entire underside.

RockAuto is out of the question, and talking with the local parts guys, most places stock Bus axles to sell to Thing owners anyways.

So I said screw that idea...I don't need Bus axles. I emailed a Thing enthusiast that's in the VW club I'm in, and he has 5 or 6 original Thing full axles assemblies. Making a deal soon. Updates to follow as soon as I get moved and this swap done. For right now, I will be getting my Squareback's brakes refreshed so I can park Maisy till I find a place to do the swap.

This did not fit plug'n play: Wink

the wheel base of this VW MAN 4x4 is 3.300 to 7.300 m.
The wheel base of a bay window 2.400 m

Wheel rim size of the VW MAN 4x4 is 20" - only 14" at the bay window

The VW MAN 4x4 top speed is 60 miles/h

Diesel consumption is 2 times at the road and up 3 times offroad of the gasoline consumption of our bay window...

regards,
