|
|
Just returned from a cool fall camping trip east of the Sierras. Sure enjoyed staying at the hot springs at both Benton, and Keough's along Hwy 395.
We finally put our dinner ware from Just Kampers into service.
During K.P. we discovered that if the dishwasher fails to keep something small on top of the sink drain plug, the Just Kampers 10" dinner plates are the perfect fit to get wedged into the bottom of the sink. Grrr! Had lotsa fun extracting one! I see where Just Kampers now sells square "VW" plates. A good solution to this oversight. Anyone have a simple fix/hack for this? I could cut a small notch on the edge of the plates to allow us to hook and fish them out. It may be easier to just epoxy a small stainless steel nut onto the side of the sink, to keep the 10" plates off of the bottom. |

A) Don't set them in the sink. I stack them on the table, then wash them one by one.
B) If one does get stuck (and it's happened a few times), I simply press a finger against one side (edge) of the plate and the opposite side rises up along the sink to where I can then grab it. _________________ ~Kamz

This is funny. A notch in the plate would annoy me and I would still have to pry up the plate at times. Anything glued to the sink would annoy me every time I cleaned the sink. I'm thinking a superball in the sink or build a tall non stopper for the drain. Or just get different plates. |

unscrew the drain plug (underneath the van) to release the suction.
-or-
take the drain hose off underneath the sink and use a small dowel to push the plate(s) upwards. _________________ 87 Westy, 250k GW 2.4 - 2.0 , 16" wheels |

Connect your garden hose up to the drain and turn it on. |

Take your shop vac out there and put the nozzle in the middle of the plate. Power on, lift upwards?
Option #2, hot glue something onto the middle of the plate to allow you to grab a hold. Scrape off glue residue after successful extraction?
Although, I have to admit I like the sink fountain idea the best. _________________ 87 Syncro Westy w/ Suby 2.5

Replace the plates, get the new square set. Give away the rounded plates as a Christmas gift to whoever gave you the best or funniest advice here (((()))). Be done. _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

I'm kind of partial to the triple "doodie" elevated bidet myself. Wash your dishes, backside and get a drink of water all built into one fine porcelain bowl.
You still might need the suction cups though... |

Place heat source under sink and watch the plate magically levitate..
be quick with a fork to pop into gap as the plate lifts. _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

Buy a Eurovan EVC, they have a rectangular sink
That way you wouldn't waste your money on a new set of dishes
I'll trade you a set of square dishes for your round ones, then we would have the appropriate dishes for the appropriate van! _________________ Peter vT
