I picked up a fairly clean Quantum syncro wagon on Saturday. 125k miles. Tons of documentation since new. The body has one large dent and the rear hatch has rust around the bottom of the window. Overall I am stoked on the car and it will be perfect for around Tahoe. I plan on getting it as clean as I can and keeping it stock.

I was going to find a new hatch but I think I can make this one work. Unfortunately the seal is really shot and from what I have researched they are not available from VW or aftermarket. I've searched many of the yards around here with no luck. Used would be fine as long as its not blown out. Any ideas? I had a Fox once and it seems VW pretty much erased that from existence.....much like this one I'm starting to find...but I'm not complaining. That's half the fun.

It idles at about 1600 RPM. I am going to replace all the vacuum lines and clean the IAC valve and then attempt to get it smogged this week.

Good for you. Keep searching for a clean rear hatch in junk yards or a suitable parts car with a good unit.

Many years ago, I considered a QSW. I remember being told the Syncro Wagon did not have a rear hatch specific to it -- any Quantum wagon rear hatch would swap on. That doesn't open you up to wide spread availability, but it should help.

If you are going to restore as you go, a professional repair is also possible. It won't be cheap; I looked into it back in the day, but still an option.
