My mom gave it to me and said she has had it since she was 19, looks like it's for a necklace or a charm. There aren't any stampings on it to be seen. Any info on it would be nice.
smaller than a dime probably .

We're talking 90s, she was born in 73. She could have got it when she was older than 19, my dad gave it to her ,and he doesn't remember where he got it from or when.
Sorry if this isn't much of a help. _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.

No, that helps a lot. I recall charms like those with the "grain" running on the backside of them being used on earrings too. It may be a dealership offering- much as they do today. I do believe it is new enough that it would have to be a trademarked item- as by the 90s, VWoA was cracking down on the errant use of that logo.
Now we need the input from all those "Fahrvegnugen"-era "Driver Gear" collectors out there. A little newer than my stuff- but I'll look to see if it appears in any of my old catalogs. _________________

Much appreciated.
I too was thinking it was a dealership thing, but when I googled it all I got was images of golfs. But even if it's fake and some dude was making them in his garage I would still like to know.
Fahrvegnugen guys- help! _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.

I've got practically the same charm in my collection. Had it since I was in middle school, so we're talking mid 1990s. I don't remember where I got it. May have been at a show. But I also got two other Beetle charms at the same time. Not a dealer or official VW piece. _________________ Yeah I like Herbie AND New Beetles. Got a problem with it? Tough.
