Picked this up today as part of a package deal. Not sure what this is off of but it has a VW stamp on it and is pretty much like new. Anyone got an idea. I was thinking 411 or 412?

Looks like a bus muffler, but also looks like not a bus muffler.

No, it definitely looks like a bus muffler - it's upside down, of course. I don't know what model it's off, but it's definitely type 2

This is a 1961-64 Type 3 muffler.
A photo from the top of it would make it easier to view the uniqueness of it.

Here is a later version with detachable upper heat exchangers but same idea:

Note heat shielding - this is Type 3.
