There is an ad today on eBay. The picture shows a normal location for the fuel filler. He says the booklet in the vehicle says it's a syncro. Was there ever a factory syncro that used standard vanagon location for the fuel filler.? _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

Nope.
The 2wd fuel tank would interfere with the front diff and driveshaft.
A 2wd filler port can be added to a Syncro if an auxiliary fuel tank is added but the main tanks filler port will be in the stock Syncro location.
Ask the seller for a picture of the front suspension, that will let you know immediately if it is a 2wd of Syncro. |

I just looked at that ad. That van has an automatic trans. It is not a Syncro. |

thanks-I'm trying to tell him to correct his posting before he messes up his eBay rating. _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

It also has what looks like a subaru engine, so it's not a "2.1" liter engine. Also is an automatic and says 4 speed but its a 3 speed. Also says miles are variously 128k, 138k, and 12k. Also says little rust but you can literally see all the way into the interior through that rust line under the hookups.
