Someone long ago lifted the m-code plate on this bus, but I got the birth certificate. The Stiftung museum got the m-code 199 wrong, as they must have recycled it after they quit building swivelseats in '63 or thereabouts.

What I'd like to do is create a correct m-code plate layout for this bus.
Anybody want to give it a try?

It might help to see a few m-code plates of other swivelseat kombis, maybe you can post up the '59?

I'll take a stab for now:

12 04 0

372 199 175 168

UN 235 BLUE 594696

I might want to revise the order listing of the m-codes after seeing a few photos of other swivelseat kombis.

Thanks, Greg.
I'll post up my m codes from other buses and see if any revisions are necessary.

the middle row is always ascending order after the USA specs grouping. (if it is a 4-row plate, they continue on above the first row of codes, still in ascending order.)

I think that the 168 code would be wrapped up in the USA specs package in this case.

Thanks, Lind. I hope Jeff is still making plates.

I agree with Lind that the grouped mcodes are always listed first then the individual codes are in numerical ascending order. However, the 168 should be in there. I have seen 372 codes followed by 168. So, the plate should look like this:

12*04*0****************

***********************

372*168*175*199********

UN*235**BLUE*****594696

Also note that the mcodes start on the 3rd row of the plate and roll up to the second row. Here is one of Lind's previously posted photos showing the 168 with the 372 and the codes rolling up to the 2nd row:

If the m-code listed the color as green for a '62, that is a Turkis correct?

This is my 63:

16 4

425 080

UF White 2153 1 100 171

I find it odd that there is no number following the 16 4 date.

PostPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2014 8:36 pm    Post subject: KD Code Reply with quote

Without staring a new thread. I posted this here. Maybe the moderators can move it otherwise.
I searched and can't find an answer. Can someone decipher the meaning of KD as shown on this M Code Plate. My first thought was Canada , but no KD code listed for Canada .
Beings this Bus is an 8/63 build it has no day/month stamped.
231 Lhd cargo doors right 2 in reference to paint type.
4949 Primer / 83 mesh grey interior. And the 77 ( hand stamped) also shows up as primer code ?
Does KD mean Complete Knock Down ?

Thanks for any info.

That's the strangest m-plate I have ever seen.

Looks like an ambulance? I see what looks like a ambo divider and the color looks like ivory.
