I saved this headbanger from a 1970 bus headed to the crusher. I haven't seen it before. It appears modified and I was wondering if the mounting (the two poles and wood dowels) is original. Thanks in advance!

I see the pictures but couldn't tell you if it's modified or not. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

Outwardly it looks like something that came from Wiedenbruck but although they were big on good quality materials they didn't use solid wood anywhere, I suspect it's a PO's junkyard find from a genuine Westfalia with some added home basement woodcraftyness. I have no idea what that metal tube is for, same for the wood dowels, maybe some sort of improvised camp table or remount in a headlinered bus? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

been cut up
possibly for speakers? sorry for small pic
it mounted by a "L" bracket riveted on the drivers side of the bus above the rear window. 2 screws went into the bottom of the headbanger.
all the fly net snaps that went across the top held it on there
1 (possibly 2, can't remember) bolt(s) were on the right side attached to the wardrobe closet _________________

I think the dowels would fit inside the pipe as some sort of method to atach it to the bus. Sink a screw thru the wood to the body and wedge the pipe over the dowel for a snug fit? The angle cut? Dunno. _________________ 78 Riviera

That is precisely how it was mounted up front and the snaps screw held it along the rear. _________________ All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
