This is one of the things I don't understand everyone has had a chance to buy this bus is well aware on how rare it is...I just don't know why someone would want to get rid of it once they owned it... _________________ (20-024785)Ambulance (20-037784)truck (20-035850)panel

most people can't handle and/or wouldn't enjoy driving a panel without a cab divider for very long
IMO for most the "cool" factor probably wears off after awhile plus the fact there is not much they can do with such a rare bus they get bored and/or are ready to move on _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough

Wow! A story with a great beginning, middle, and ending. Must have been sad to let go of Bob... Hope France treats him well. |

I know I'm late to the party (dollar short, too), but this is a GREAT thread. So much fun to read (and learn) about these old VW buses.
Even though I'm a member here, I found this thread via google when looking up "Barn-door VW bus."
If I had the money, I'd have a VW in every shape and size. |

Is 5.5 years too late to update this thread?
2012 after OCTO, traveling with Lind and Bob...changing tires for gearing issues.
Camping around the Grapevine.
Crater Lake, Oregon.

I was lucky enough to drive Bob to Boise show, 2013
I say lucky, cause I survived the drive. 60 year old bias ply tires, can not see much, loud and hoping it would stop _________________ ---

I've seen pics of this bus online over the past year or 2 and always assumed it was a survivor, now that this thread has been bumped its clear it was brought back from the dead! Testament to the skills of those who worked on it.
Only thing is now I need to see the before pics, I've gone through the thread page by page and any before pics seem to have disappeared. Anyone got a pic of as found? |

The photobucket pics on the first few pages show up for me so I uploaded them here and fixed the links. _________________ How to Post Photos
