Hi folks I am restoring a 1978 Beetle Cabrio.
It's a body-off as there is some rust in the floorpans.
The original body-to-chassis gasket was a strip of grey, greasy, yukky foam that obviously absorbed water and led to some localised corrosion
Can anyone see any problems with me using an earlier style rubber gasket?
Not that it really matters... but when was the change made, and why?
Any and all experience and insights appreciated

The grey foam was cheaper then the rubber gasket. I used the rubber gasket on my 76. _________________ Parts for sale https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?username=APPLEGREENVW

yes the foam would have been cheaper and easier for Karmann to install but I think I will use an old-school rubber one |
