OK, I'm finally getting around to replacing the bolts that connect the lower and upper pieces of the windshield frame together. When I was young, broke, lazy, uninformed (and didn't have access to the Samba) I replaced two of the screws with self tapping bolts. I now want to remove those bolts and replace them with the correct stainless screws M6X16. I'll probably have to re-thread the holes since they were messed up by the self tapping bolts. Question is, which part(s) of the windshield frame or frames are threaded? Upper, lower, both? If anybody has any experience with this, I'd love to hear tips. thanks.

Mine is out of the lower frame right now and the only threaded part is the back side of the lower frame. 2 on each side.

If your treads are too missed up you may need to put Helicoils in.
