This truck had literally rusted in half! The frame rails were so rusted that there was almost nothing holding the front suspension to the truck. The top 3/4 of the cab and bed gates are very usable.

Are you going to put the front axle under the cab? This would really retain the pick up feel. Amazing. _________________ If I knew what I was doing; I wouldn't be building a buggy! |

Thanks. No, the axle is out front, street rod style. Its hard to tell from the photos, but its looks good. The cab will sit low in the frame.
I started on the frame today. Got one Z'ed rail done

Decided to add gussets to the frame joints for extra strength.
Also, welded the front spring perch to the front crossmember while I can still flip it all around for a good hot weld as is supports the entire front of the vehicle.
Frame so far

I have the original bed sides (top 3/4 portion is decent) and tail gate with some cool old "keep on truckin" lettering. I am going to use these pieces as decoration around a 1 5/8" tubing structure and aluminum diamond plate floor. The bed sides will be trimmed down to match the new bed length.
