|
|
I am in the process of trying to fix a charging issue in my 66 Bug. I have three generators and would like to know what the difference in part numbers indicate, and would like to know which if any of them is original correct for the 66 Bug. All three have different part number...
1... 111 903 021G also marked is 0101212006/005
2... 111 903 021H also marked 0101212007 (bosch emblem) 008
3... L1/REG 180/6/2500L3
What do the differing part numbers indicate and what part number is original for a 1966 US spec Bug?
thanks in advance _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

Use the "Full Index" here:
http://oacdp.org/type1part.html
"Electrical Equipment" in " Main Group 9". is what you want to focus on. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Thank you
It is a very nice webpage, however some of the pages are missing, and it appears the information I seek is on the missing page(s)
One of my generators is listed on page 9-5 however the pages that list which engines get which generators are mostly missing, I only see the later 12 volt units partially listed, the early 6 volts pages are blacked out and reported as missing.
I wonder if anyone here might have a clue where to find the missing data???? _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

Yes that is of great help.
Looks like My 66 bug came with the "H" generator stock, Item #12 which is the same as the replacement types.
The "G" one I have is from an earlier car, Item #10
My third generator has the markings indicating it is from a very early car "B" type but only by cross referencing the numbers as it does not have the 111 903 021 designation on it this one is listed as item #8 (L1/REG 180/6/2500L3) _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

Bosch wasn't the only supplier of generators for VW. If you are not finding a Bosch logo or part number then it is likely of Garbe-Lahmeyer make and stock in limited numbers from the mid 1950's to the early 1970's. _________________ Roads Scholar &

tasb - a couple of Garbe Lahmeyer 6V units are, in fact, listed in that chart. |

bluebus86, On this generator can you see if you can find the date code and let me know where it is located?
Here is the chart to decipher the Bosch date codes and general locations. I am not sure where to look and want to try and find as close to original month as possible for my original engine rebuild (engine will be stored for the next caretaker of the car).
