Ok, I am getting ready to put a new rubber seal on the pop top of my 80 westie. It didn't have one on there before, so I don't know where to begin and end the seal at. Is there a correct way to putting this thing on? Thank you! _________________ Life is a garden - dig it!

hi pocvw:
West coast metrics put the seals on my westie out in california. They used my westie as their "guinea pig" to measure the rubber seals for other busses. Their toll free number is 1800 247 3202. The website address is westcoastmetric.com. good luck and keep me posted. have a great day, connie. |

If posible, put the end at the back of the pop top. Tjat way it won't catch wat er while you drive... _________________ '69 bug--rusty as hell

pocvw, as far as i can tell, the rubber begins on the drivers side, just above the door, where the door opens. about 1-2 inches past the opening part of the door. It is a new seal. i was lucky enough to have all new seals on my westie when i bought it. ANy ideas of something i can put on the rubber to keep it from dry rotting? i think i have heard of something out on the market! thanks! and good luck with your seal. i am planning on trying to put my new canvas on this weekend. it is good to talk to you, ayg, connie. |

Last summer I did the top of my 87 Westy with the GoWesty top kit.
Fits and worked like a charm. Came with decent directions too. Its a total of 3 parts. 1 for the luggage rack, 1 for the pop-top (big one) and 1 for the seal across the roof.
Only tool you'll need is a rubber mallet to tap it into place.
Here's what it looks like.

I also "repainted" the top while I was at it.. _________________ -Dan
