What is this dash light for? It is between the gas gauge and speedo. Ambulance light?

That is the emergency flasher dash light. It flashes when you pull the 4-way flasher knob. |

I get it, it doesn't matter which wire goes to it as long as one does from the switch. |

ultimately, a light is just a light... however, what i was thinking when i saw it was the trailer hitch blinker indicator light.
We used to wire in a little light just like that, it would blink one time whenever you used your blinkers, it was just an indicator that trailer lights were wired in. _________________ regards

That light piggy-backs off of one of the terminals on the hazard switch. The linked thread doesn't really apply because you have a pre-'66. The hazard indicator light was built into the switch for '66-'67 so they don't have the external light.
My wiring is painted over but I think it should be attached to the small red wire on J6 (hazard switch) in this drawing:
