How do you guys feel about the look?
I see lots of Ghias without it, Lots with it. I'm going to take mine out because it sags - And I was looking at replacements and deciding whether t I needed it or not. I'll probably replace it - Just curious to how you guys feel about it. _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.

I like it if it looks non saggy! haha. Plus you don't want it to get pulled into the fan. I think it does give a little bit of sound insulation and heat insulation from the engine bay too but I see plenty of cars running without it. _________________ 1960 Beetle ''Heidi" daily driver

I pulled mine, I think it looks better this way on a "Resto-mod". On a stock build...gotta be there.

I was actually looking at putting in a Aluminum firewall over the tar boards and possible other sound deadening insulation like this:

If you do use those I would line the backs with sound deadener before installing them and the engine firewall from the inside of the car and your set! _________________ Jesse

Yes that is the plan, plus adding more sound deadening to quiet the 1835 from the inside. _________________ ----------------------

Looks isn't the issue. Very noisy without it. Fortunately my originals are in good shape.
Also what do you do about the sides? _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

I like it. I'd like it more if it had a foil backing personally. _________________ -Jared
