Interior question for the experts here - did all US delivery Ghias come with the leatherette interior?
The paint/upholstery charts here list interior color choices that include both cloth and leatherette, but I don't recall ever seeing a 60's Ghia with an original cloth interior.
Did VW choose to equip all US bound Ghias with the "upgraded" leatherette interior in a similar way that they only offered the "DeLuxe" version of the Beetle here? |

I had a 1960 parts car that had the original cloth or should I say I found scraps in hidden areas LOL |

I am in a bit of a spot here. I looked over the technical, archives and so forth only to find almost no info about my 1971 ghia (was looking for carpet. All I found was palisander and leatherette.
I am sad to say, when I first bought my karmamnn ghia when I was 13. I had almost no idea what I was doing (I know more now, but not that much) The door cards looked "old" and the carpet too. I threw out all 4 orignal door cards, trunk liner, and the carpet . I am still mad about that, and I wish I had kept it all and just cleaned it. This is how it looked when I got the car (this is not mine, but it is the exact same as my ghia was.
It is called something like - palisander brown leatherette
I have managed to track down some door cars, but I have no idea what so ever about the carpets. Does anyone know what color that is and where I could find a reproduction? If not I will just buy a oatmeal/tan carpet kit. _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

finally taking stock here in some old interior pieces that came with a '59
Does anyone know what the pieces on the left are, and if that is a bug or ghia rubber pedal area piece?
I thought this was greenish but after looking at recent posts it may be aero silver with some patina.. I tried the seat pictured here in the '57 but it was tight closing the door.
not sure of this one either - later door handle cutout.
These are in decent shape, but no bulkhead rubber came with it unfortunately

"and if that is a bug or ghia rubber pedal area piece?"
The rubber piece for the pedal area appears to be Ghia specific. The hole is where the master cylinder piston goes through and the aperture in the carpeting is for the steering column. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Think the pieces on the left goes in the backseat. Over the wheelarch/under the parcelshelf on each side. Must be a late 59 then cause these parts are usually not covered with vinyl on 1959 models. |

Thanks for the info. I didn't throughtly go through a random pile of interior pieces before throwing into storage so fun task of sorting it all out..
on the pedal area piece: the attached bit of carpet looked smaller than all the Ghias I've seen in the galley, and there is no fuel lever hole. But it looks different than old bug ones..
On the red panels: I've seen the same colour and pattern but only with earlier (circular) door handle cutouts. The cutouts on the back look clean and not homemade though.. |

Can anyone help with a photo of the interior for my '63 coupe.
It will be emerald green L514, which had the silberbeige / derbygrau 53/48 door panels and quarter panels. I think this is silver beige/ ordinary grey in English.
Anthracite L469 and 'Rubin' (ruby red?) L456 cars also had the same interiors.
It appears this is NLA, trying to get a decent colour match from an original car to get as close as possible.
Any help appreciated!

I'm relatively new to the VW scene but I've yet to see a 65 Ghia with a dashboard light or rear view mirror with the light integrated with the visor clips. I can't seem to find them anywhere online or in any catalogs. Can anyone shed light on this? No pun intended.
Not sure how to link a photo to my post but they can be seen in my photos.[/img] |

Those door panels are for a '64 which has a different door pull than the earlier ice pick version. Nice that you have the trim strip on the arm rests - those frequently go missing. _________________ RIP HBB (1984-2009)

I have the body of my 67 vert off and the rear shelf (below the rear window) does not appear to have any support or attachment from below. It seems weird that it would just be hanging there.
Does anyone have a picture showing the shelf support when the body is on the pan?
Thanks in advance all you VW bros! |

Don't know where else to ask this so i'll just post it up here.
Anyways, is this a factory Ghia bit? Was included with the purchase of my 73 coupe, and I took it out because it would always catch my shoe whenever I moved it off the gas. So factory, or just aftermarket?
