Looking at this camper, any feedback, thoughts on price appreciated. |
Since it's being sold by a dealer, you can expect the price to be up there versus private party but either way I would expect a rebuilt/replaced engine at those prices, not just an oil change and some plugs etc. _________________ '89 2wd, 4spd, 2.1 Westfalia. |

Drilled into the roof and added ARCs (artificial rain gutters). I don't really understand it, because the existing rain gutters would have been as strong, or probably much stronger. _________________ Going to where the grass is bluer...

This is an older refurb, but a thorough one. The price is certainly not cheap at $19K, but it's a solid looking van that GoWesty rebuilt in 2007, and it appears to only have around 30K miles since then.

Hello, glad to find this great comunity and as I´m new I`ll shortly introduce my self. I´m Mauro, born in Argentina and I´m currently planing to take a plane, in the near future, to Canada where I intend to do a trip from Canada to South America!! All with my younger brother Ro. For that nice purpose, we are looking for our next six-month house, and expect to find a potent Syncro to go across forests, sea land, arduous rutes.. well, an adventure machine is what we need with confortable interiors if possible. A Westfalia full camper T3 may be good also. Above all, a great time is coming for us and we are now over the task of getting the Van. Any help, any Van you hear on sale please back to us. In any friendly way we`ll give back the gesture. Thanks for your reading Peace! Mauro. |

'85 Westy Weekender --- Given all the specs (Bostig Zetec <15K miles, AA trans w/Peloquin LSD 20K miles , +++LOTS more) I'd say this is a VERY GOOD DEAL for $20K.

Syncro $6000. In California, I just drove my Westie from Milwaukee, WI to Tahoe to deliver it to it's new owner here in CA. I'm tent camping until my flight home tomorrow. Going to check out this Syncro in a little bit. If you want info on it I'll be glad to share what I found. Could also cancel my flight and drive it east for the the cost of gas if someone that direction wanted it. I just drove my Westie 2000 miles to get here so I am well stocked with tools for any potential issues en route!
Can't seem to post the link, it's on reno craigslist, I found it by searching Vanagon

I'd call it an "average deal" at best. I'd rather pay $2500 more for this Westy Weekender: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1767394 (No, I don't know the seller).
This $20K CA Weekender includes the following items your $17.5K NM Full Camper does not:
Professionally installed crate Ford Zetec / Bostig conversion kit with under 15K miles.
AA transaxle with Peloquin limited slip differential under 20K miles
20k miles on CV joints
go westy plate steel bumpers w/ receiver hitch
new oem 3 window canvas
new sewfine interior
sewfine carpet kit
sound deadening matting under carpet and throughout most of van
south african steering wheel
south african go westy high output light kit
new nokian tires
audi wheels
go westy 1.5" lift progressive spring kit
bilstein hd shocks
stainless steel pipes
new fuel tank
1 year old paint job (was faded)
no rust issues
great sounding CD / AUX stereo system with bazooka tube, 2nd battery, and amp under jump seat
600 watt pure sine wave converter
go westy rubber floor mats
crappy brown 85 dash replaced with nice '91 black dashboard w/ no cracks
new front window
short shift and shift extension kit
oem light truck mirrors (no floppy mirrors)
clean title
manual transmission
175K miles on body
only the absolute highest quality parts (OEM) have been used on this van. _________________ 1990 Multivan - "Ohana"

This one looks to be a pretty good deal! May turn out to be a money pit but a driveable (supposedly) 1987 full westy for $3500CAD?? That's $2800USD for the yanks! At the very least the interior looks good, though not great pics...ad kinda has that "I don't care what it's worth, I'm just tired of looking at it" vibe. If I didn't have too many vans to get rid of I'd consider just buying it to wash and flip! If it's still around when I'm back from camp (2? weeks) I can check it out for an interested party...15 minutes away.
