I am trying to find out what alternator was used by the DDB in their kits. I am having an issue with my battery charging and I need to get the alternator tested out, but I have no idea what was used. I do have a couple of pictures of the alternator.

Going off the pictures, it's a Denso unit, with 1 of the mounting arms cut off.
Look it over, and see IF you can find a part number or model number on it.
More than likely, the brushes have worn down, or the internal voltage regulator has died. Both can be had at NAPA. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I want to say he sourced it from a Honda fork lift. Im pretty sure it was a fork lift but maybe not a Hondah if that helps you out any. _________________

If you find the part number & Google it, you can learn more about it's applications etc. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

My nipondenso apt had no part # on it. Mine is a 40 amp from a toyo fork lift. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

If you take it to a motor rewind shop they can put it on the machine and spin it up to see what it makes for voltage, amps, etc in about 5 minutes.
they don't care what model it is.
That looks very similar to the 40 amp that I have from a 3 cylinder Geo/suzuki _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php

I have the DDB kit on my square, and had it serviced before. An alternator shop that specializes in Japanese models can both repair and also tell you what model or vehicle its from. As I recall, the alternator shop I took it to in San Diego had several of the exact same alternators on their shelves. _________________ 1970 Baywindow weekender

There is no part number on the alternator. I will take it to an alternator shop and see what they can do for me. Thanks for the help! |
