Has anyone seen or used one of these? Curious as to the quality.

I slept on crofty's tent once. I passed out drunk from two bottles of Everett's brother's wine. |

I bought one of these and have no complaints , latch mech , light fitting and hinges went straight on from old lid with no messing , its nicely made neat finished and apart from welding on the stay bracket and painting its pretty much a straight swap . |

I did buy one and at first glance I was very pleased but looking a little closer I was a little disappointed in how few spot welds (less than half the welds found on an OG Decklid) from the frame/structure to the outer skin ...MAYBE I'm a little on the picky side of stuff like that but IMO I think the Decklid has way to much flex because of the lack of spot welds.. so I respot welded it it made a huge difference in the flex
Other than that its nice overall _________________ Wow look at that THAT'S A "SHOW CAR"!!

let see some pictures please, of spot welds. I was considering one myself since I can't seem to find a good early 59 deck lid. |

I took these a few weeks ago when this discussion came up. Took a bit to figure how to make them small enough to post.
Seems to be well made. There is a bit more flex compare to the original one that came with the truck. On the other had, it doesn't look like it was riun over like the original.
The second and third pictures should show the spot welds _________________ 57 Beetle, 65 Doublecab, 75 Scirocco, 15 A4 |
