I know the topic has been brought up before but i cant seem to find it.I have a 72 square i want to convert to wide 5 with out using adapters, whats the best way to do it any tips thanks

It depends on how you want to go about it. You can convert the rear easy enough, just hunt up some wide 5 Type 3 drums (they're a bolt on). Or, you can use a wide 5 rear disc bug kit.
For the front, it's either 65 and earlier spindles and drums, or modify a set of 66 to 71 spindles, and bolt on a wide 5 disc bug kit (there's a thread link on doing that in the sticky) , or buy a CSP wide 5 disc kit and bolt it on.

I have half inch spacers an wheel adaptors on the front, the spacer to clear the calipers, also using 2000 bug lug bolt for the front!! the calipers and 67 bug brakes on the rear with a spacer behind the axle nut

Just looked at that set for the front ouch $1000 , i wonder if you can mod a earlier beetle disc brake kit on the front anyone know ?

If you decide to use the EMPI Type 1 ball joint front discs-you'll want the spacer for centering the bracket to drill new holes.

I have the spacer and don't need it. PM me if you want it.
