Can some of y'all post some pics of your thin whitewall tires? Tread, sidewall, whole car? Do you like them?

I'm trying to decide what to do. I have thin whitewall BF Goodrich 165's. They are awesome, they have the old logo and old sidewall, they just look perfect for a 60's car. The problem is, I think they are 15 years old. The tread is fine, no bubbles, no cracking, I don't think they have that many miles on them and the car was definetly always kept inside.

I've been looking. It's hard to judge what tires actually look like when looking on coker or eBay or wherever. They list one tire, have one picture, but 15 different sizes with that one picture. I don't want a modern toyota looking tire that happens to have a thin whitewall. From what I can tell, both the BF Goodrich and American Classic thin whitewalls have modern tread, modern sidewall, modern brand logos. not what I'm looking for

and if by chance someone is actually running 6.00x15's, please please report. I am actually thinking about running bias plys Shocked

Don't do bias plies; you'll hate it. They sucked in the 1970s and they'll still suck now. If you are that hung up on logos, etc. get a second set of wheels for your "modern' tires so you can keep what you have now for show.

Also, if someone knows of other brands of thin whitewalls, I'm all ears and eyes. All I'm aware of is the American Classics and BF Goodrich Silvertowns

I used to have a set of double thin whitewalls Shocked
they were rad

I think these were Goodrich but don't quote me.

The car went back to Europe some years ago, so I don't have closeups. i saw them in person as I did extensive work on that car, though, and I don't recall anything cheesy about the appearance.

I have them on my split, my lowlight and '56 single cab. They are "OK" for occasional use, but yeah, the performance sucks. If you're doing anything other than putzing around town, go with radials.

Ugh. Both Coker and Diamondback are making new bias-ply look radials. Neither will be making a 600-15, and it looks like their 560-15 will only be wide white, not thin. Bastards!

Daimondback (although they have been promising for a few years, I'm seeing spring 2015 release date)

I had Conti bias ply tires and they were not awesome so I sold them and replaced them with a more modern tire (not white wall).

The bias plys were terrible on wet pavement in addition to the wtf ride quality.

I do mostly just putz around town, which is why I havent really freaked out about the current tires being 15 years old, but we have a show coming up in Dallas and I'd like to drive to, about a 500 mile round trip.

What tires are those on the T34? If you get a chance, can you take some close ups of the sidewall and tread? Thanks

Pedro is running some 6.00 x 15 Bias Ply tires on his notch and likes them.

I have the updated BF Goodrich 165-15 on my notch.. but I like to drive it and don't wanna deal with the performance of Bias Ply tires.

For my wife's OG Beetle I got 5.60 x 15 Bias Ply from Coker and they look the part and are awesome.. but we barely put any miles on it.

I feel the perfect tire would be a 6.00 x 15 Thin Wall Radial but with the Bias Ply look for our cars.

Hey ErikG,
I have the exact tire you posted, BF Goodrich Silvertown GT-100 Radial 165r15 3/4" Whitewall and I purchased them from Coker tire in 2002.
They discontinued the tread pattern as yours in 2005 and went with a more modern Radial Tread Pattern.

I drove Pedro's notch on those bias plys and it was really nice. More than that, they really look the part, just like in old photos. The bigger diameter really suits the lines of the car.

If money was no object I would totally run these blackwalls on a Type 3:

I got an update today from both DiamondBack and Coker

Coker will be making a few more sizes but nothing that will work for us. They did release their Radial with the bias look in 560x15 - but it's a wide white wall. Not for me

Diamond back will be making both 590x15 and 640x15 in their new Auburn Deluxe line - a radial that looks like a bias ply with pie crust sides and everything. They add the whitewall at the end of the production, so 3/4 inch will not be a problem, and they can probably even do double thin like I pictured above Very Happy
