Maybe not a joke for some things, but when I slid the carrier tray into that style, and pushed with my hand on the end of the tray, I could flex it. Jokes are funny, this wasn't.
I ordered and installed the Burley. Ordered about Weds last week, it arrived on Monday, installed it after work on Monday night. Now with the tray installed I can stand on the end of it with no flex, and only a small compression of my rear suspension.
Because I am in a National Park, Burl even painted my hitch for me, I didn't even ask. Great customer service!

for those who will use a carrier, I'd like to suggest the following:
- move the carrier as close to bumper as possible. To do this slide in the tongue as deep as you can till it hit the other end, back out about one inch, with a marker draw and drill a new hole on the tongue for the barrel lock.
- if you really want no rattle at all, use an anti-rattle pin AND put an bolt instead a pin at the carrier joint. (arrow in the pic)

Crazy faux-DOF effect in your pic there.
I use a Harbor Freight carrier, it works pretty good. The original square tube on the carrier was pretty weak so I put a much thicker one on it. I mounted it in as far as possible, and I use a Draw-tite J-pin. It works very well and is very solid.

Nicely done (did my glass bumper burley this weekend too).
What trim did you use? Makes the edge much cleaner.

| I'm not exactly sure. I think it was the same stuff they use for drip systems. It's a semi-hard plastic with just enough flex for this job. It took some coaxing to put on but not too bad. |
