I'm striking out looking for a replacement dash pad for my 63 vert. Does anyone know a reseller that has them in the factory style?
I have seen KPRG has them but only for the coupe. Mid America Motoring sells a leather wrapped one for 300. I just want the factory one that is all nice and new shiny plastic.
Also how were these supposed to attach? Mine was glued on. Can that be right??? |

First off, I am fairly sure that all Ghia dash pads were the same, regardless of if they were for coupes or convertibles.
The main problem that you will have it you're searching for a stock example for your '63 is that you have the earlier version with a cut-out for the speaker grill.

They attach using really small captive bolts that stick down from the pad, through holes in the dash, to be attached with washers and nuts. They're small though; like 5mm or something!

I may just have to stick with mine. Not happy though that the dash pad is missing those studs and is glued on👿..
Would really like one with a factory speaker cut out and that has the right studs. KPRG is apparently out of stock anyway...I'll try the Aussie guy |

I got a dash from Kevin. It has the hole for the speaker cut out and uses the vinyl you like.
The backing is made of fibreglass. So when it comes to studs you can glue them on with epoxy glue. Lay the dash in position on the car. With a white marker or perhaps a white crayon, mark the backing from the underside of the dash at each hole position. The markings will show you the spot where each stud should be. Find some counter sunk screws with an appropriate thread size. Get matching nuts for them. Get washers that are reasonably large and have a hole that won't let the head of the screw through. One by one dip the head of the screws with the washers slipped through in epoxy and glue then on the dash on the position marked earlier. Wait 24 hours for the epoxy to cure. Install in you car with the nuts and probably small spring washers.
Don't use 5 minute Araldite quick setting glue. Use the proper 24 hour setting stuff.

I heard back from 56cpe. It sounds like if I want the stock textured fiberglass or vinyl Kevin doesn't have it. If I understand correctly Kevin's are all sold as wrapped. Not sure if that's with leather or what
I found a company called mid America motoring that says they have the dash pad in a black stock material with speaker hole. They said it's about 300 and back ordered a month
I guess I'll stick with mine and use the gluing of studs onto it and then order a new pad from Santa this Xmas. |

Interesting. I like it. I'll have to call them. I'm curious why it says "for all years". Did all years use the same dash pad?? I thought not.
Does anyone know if this pad has the speaker hole in it? Or if you could easily drill through to install the grab handle |

Just wanting to correct some information about our dash Pads. When I replied to Mscdman I mentioned that our Pads were constructed of fibreglass - then covered (by Kevin) with a thin foam and then with Pebble grain vinyl. we also make them with or without the Speaker hole. Also we make 71-74 with the large air vents. You can see these on our site. So if you want a Dash pad like the factory produced, then ours is the closest. If you want something else, then you have several choices.
