|
|
Hi folks. I've got a 69 Fasty with a 1914 in it. I got it this way and don't know much about the build. It's got the original heater boxes so I'm thinking it's stock exhaust. Would 1 3/8" be best? What's a good bang for the buck that is on the quiet side?
Thanks!

Gotta know the engine specs. I'd say 1 1/2"- 1 5/8" as a wild ass guess. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Usually cam, cr, size and head port quality/valve size dictates exhaust size. 1914 generally benefits from using a minimum 1.5" exhaust IMO. But if you suspect it is more closer to stock components, 1 3/8".
Exhaust systems with heater boxes generally cost a pretty penny as a kit. If you want to reuse your heater boxes, you can use a bolt on system like

No heater boxes need to get j tubes too.

Thanks guys!
Jon, that second link is for Type I. I'll snoop around; I'm sure they'll have a similar set-up for Type III.
Best,

I put on one like that above but single muffler, on a customers typ3 square. I rebuilt his stock 1600 and put on 36 dells. He is very happy with it. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD !

Thanks again. I like your idea of 1 3/8" or larger. _________________ Michael

Hello again.
Is 1 3/8" the stock size? I like the idea of 1 1/2" for this 1914 Type III. But I'm having trouble finding that configuration for the Type III (with J tubes). I see it plenty for Type I... :-/ _________________ Michael

Single quiet pack is quieter than dual, FYI, as you mention wanting something quiet. |
