Is there such a thing for a Thing. Something a newbie can use as a check list when buying a Thing of what things to look for, good or bad things. I am buying one and this would be helpful to have I am sure.
Thanks

I've never seen a list but the main thing I would look for is rust or body damage as new body panels tend to be expensive(other than doors, for some reason they're cheaper than Beetle doors)
The top and side windows would be next as they cost a fortune.
Basically I would try and find a complete car that has all its parts that might just need a repaint. It would be cheaper to go this route than buy a rusty dented up one without a top and try and buy the parts to get it nice. |

Rockers... evrything else is easily (I guess... kind of) done... just watch for the rocker panels.
But on a good note- if these are shot, the ribs are the exact same diameter as a chevy ST pickup bed- the distance between the ribs is different, but it gives you a cheap alternative to expensive replacement panels.
In my opinion this is the most important aspect when looking for a good Thing, although others may disagree... |
