Hitch Extension - Make Way For The Swingaways!

With the spare tire on my Swingaway and a storage box...its time for a hitch extension. I have a snow machine trailer that I pull a couple sleds on and wheelers in the summer. Its touch and go when making sharp turns.

My solution. I just ordered it off eBay so I will follow up when it comes in. This is a 18" extension.

Anyone else go this route. All good?

Works well in my dually when the camper is id in the back.
Read up on the weight rating as it quickly falls the further out you extend. They also triangulate the extension with chain/cable and a coupke turnbuckles and it will allow less fishtail clunking while towing.

I'd be inclined to extend the tongue of the trailer.. and not extend the receiver.
As noted above, your tongue weight rating drops significantly when extending the receiver, especially with a bolt-on extension.

I assume you are losing clearance at the corners?
If you extend the trailer tongue (welded properly) you can adjust your trailer load, keep it properly balanced, and not change the effective tongue weight at the receiver end.

Would make for a happier tow, all around.

It also makes the trailer back up easier, tow easier, follow easier etc. I have extended tongues on both my car trailer and raft trailer and love it.
