Greetings,

I bought a donor with my project last year. I have picked everything I need off of it. But when I called the salvage yard about bringing it over, they told me that I needed a title or registration. I have neither.

Any ideas how I can dispose of it in one piece without paperwork? It's a 1975 bus, so if your suggestion is to cut it up and dispose of it, please be gentle with me. I am aching all over just thinking about it.

Thx for any ideas. I am out of them.

John

Cut it up and haul it in for scrap. What do you think they'd have done with a stripped out bus anyway? Crush it. What's the difference.

If it bothers you put up an ad for sheet metal clippings for a little while so it can give up the last of what it's got.

Is it in your name? If not dump it off on a country road at 2am. Problem solved.

Yep, go buy a package of good sawzall blades. You can likely recover the cost and time by extracting a few saleable sections like cargo floor bits, window hole repair lips (the tops don't rust) and drip rails sections. Large sections of flat German sheet metal are also always handy to have around the shop, a T bit in an air hammer gets those out in a hurry.

free scrap metal will be gone in a day on CL.

I cut up a MK3 toyota supra into pieces I could carry. that thing's a lot thicker, a lot stronger, and a lot heavier than a VW bus...

If you do offer it free on CL- spare yourself a lawsuit, cut out the VIN everywhere it appears, and dispose of separately. If you don't, some jacknard with fix it, knock off a smoke shack with it, and the last registered owner will tell the cops he sold it to you.

If you decide to crush it- please youtube it. Try to get angle shots that look like the bus was salvageable and complete.

If you're cool, paint it like Fillmore and donate it to the next monster truck show that comes through your town. The kids will love watching it get flattened.

In PA the roof has to be cut off for it to be considered "tin scrap". Call your local junkyard and see what they need.
