I've been working on this deal for 3 months. Finally towed it home on Saturday. Made it without incident and the bus is now safely stored in my garage. Plans are for a mechanical restoration/body preservation. Sportin' OG paint, OG motor, OG interior and lots of patina! Bus was originally from Mass and has a 1965 registration sticker on the pass. front window.
More pix in my gallery of this east coast hit.

Didn't you buy a 21/23 window bus for like $4k? Sounds like you found a great deal already! |

The rack is available for $500! I've got a full length rack already and don't need another one to figure out how to store when it's not on the bus.
This seller has several ads posted in the upcoming issue of Hemmings Motor News. He's located in southern New Hampshire and has lots of stuff to get rid of. Prices are in-line with current market, usually a tad less than what you might pay on theSamba. |

cool it made it home.
I wish i could have gone on the hit but I was to busy installing tall cedar fence making my VW herds yard 800% bigger.
I was just to nice a day not to do it plus you know how the Cops like to pic on me.I
I really like the full patina on the roof it would be a shame to Blast it away ,s take so many years to get that thick. Plus the added vent hole will keep u cool this summer. |

I started doing some cleaning last night. I vacuumed out under the front seat. There sure is a lot of space to stash stuff under the front bench. This is my first bus that isn't a walk-thru so I'm not used to the front bench set-up.
I found a 1969 quarter and a 1972 dime way down below the where the spare tire sits. I also opened up the overhead fresh air distribution box and found this:
NASTY! Looks like is was rodent nest for years and was still in use pretty recently too. Fortunatey I haven't found any live or dead critters yet. |

Stan,
Congrats!! Nice score. Like I said before, that is by far my favorite color combo. Looks like you may need some aftermarket mouse traps!

Thanks Mike,
I've got an outdoor cat, named Kubels, who keeps the rodents away. I've never had a problem with mice, etc. in my cars with the cat on guard duty. This time of the year, he even will stay out all night prowling:)
See you out at the shows this summer! |

I wore a respirator mask, safety glasses, baseball hat, full length work suit, rubber gloves and nylon jacket zipped up tight to clean that shiit out. I'm just glad nothing moved when I stuck my hand in that wad of crap. |

Bleach works best for killing that mouse smell and desinfecting.
Only problem with belach is it is corosive but that should 'nt be a problem in the mango roof. |
