I'm happy to say that we got home that day safe and sound. And on top of that, we had no issue with Tootsie on our way home from New Mexico.
Now, if you'll ask me, was the 12 hour drive worth it. Absolutely!! Will I do it again? YES! But,,,, (yes, there's always a BUT) I'll make sure that we will stay there for at least 3 days. There are so much to see and do there. So I'll plan ahead next time. _________________ 1970 Double Cab. Stock engine (1600 SP)

I needed some other parts so we went to Pomona swap meet while Tootsie was in her X-mas custome. We loved to see people's reaction especially to the custom made nose that we did (We didn't like the nose that came with the kit). Some people were even stopping us to take photos. Tootsie obliged

Besides our adventure in New Mexico, here are the other places that we already saw and events that we attended:
Busses by the Bridge
Yes! The stove unit can be taken down to cook outside of the bus.

We visited my brother in law in Salinas and we took the back road going home. This was the view:

I like this! I've been trying to think of some kind of removable chuck box for myself.
How is it secured in the bus when you're driving.? _________________ 1976 Westy

Hi Bala. If you look closely on the photo, you can see two protruding bolts (by the handle. There are handles on both side by the way). Those 2 bolts go in the hole that I drilled on the passenger seat wall (is that the right term ). Then wing nuts holds them. Takes only a few seconds to take it down or put back in. The only down side is, it's a little heavy for me. The whole unit is around 75 lbs (or maybe I need to go to the gym ).
Here's another photo of the stove unit outside when I was cooking at the Busses by the Bridge.

Bulkhead, got it. Is it the same name for the driver's side? Driver's bulkhead and pass bulkhead?
See! I learn something new everyday

Yea, same for both sides. Unfortunately late Bays don't have a passenger's bulkhead because of the swivel seat. I'm thinking of maybe a more compact unit behind the rear seat. _________________ 1976 Westy

Thank you Bala. On YouTube i have seen some people make a portable chuck (kitchen) box. Search it. That'll be perfect behind the rear seat. This is one of them>> http://youtu.be/FqYfYo0kVSk _________________ 1970 Double Cab. Stock engine (1600 SP)

Cathedral City, CA
During Balloon and Buses. Although we didn't see a lot of buses, but we went there the 2nd day. There were a few of the buses the 1st day they said.
As long as she's happy, I'm happy .
And finally, one of my favorite photo. This will end up in our living room, enlarged and framed. We were just in the right time at the right place

Well, I know I'm missing something on the roof. It's boring up there . So after a few days in my shop, I came up with this,
All Stainless Steel
The white thing that you see in the right side is my Thulè Omnistor 4000 Awning that I found used in good ole Craigslist. it's like Fiamma
On this side you can see the tube that housed my fishing pole
There is a little bit of twist on this rack. There is a gate at the rear.
Close position
Open position
Of course there's a reason why I put a gate back there and you'll find why later on . But right now the rack is a little bit ugly coz I'm kinda lazy cleaning the welds. Maybe someday I'll have time to clean and then polished it. But for now, I'll leave it like that. _________________ 1970 Double Cab. Stock engine (1600 SP)

I know I'm gonna need something to load/unload on the rack, so a ladder is in order. There are a few folks here who fabricated their own ladder and they were great, but they are permanent. I can also buy the folding ladder but it will still take up some room inside. I want something that it'll stay outside but not permanent so I can use it in any side and front and rear rack. So a few hours of thinkering and welding and this is what I came up with;
I could have used a full width of square tubing or the solid rod but I don't wanna buy anymore material so I used my leftovers. The ladder can be tuck in under the rear rack.

Hey Albert, how's it going?
Any fun summer trips happening? I love the pics! Where is that back road from Salinas?

Hey!! What's up Robbie? How you doin? Well, we've been spending some good times camping south of the border (Rosaritos, Puerto Nuevo, Encinadas)
Thank you. It was the Highway 25. From Salinas go head to Hollister and you'll see Highway 25. Just drive south. Nice two lane highway. It was very clean. Not a lot of vehicle passing by. There was no service though so make sure you have enough gas. Just enjoy the scenery, you might see some wild animals. We saw a few like Eagles, squirrels, and wild cats (we're not sure if it was a Bobcat or a Lynx). You will hit Highway 198. From there, you can go left to I-5 or right to 101.
I have nothing to add on my build except for the wooden platform that I made to put on my roof rack so that we can set up another tent there. That's why I put a gate on my roof rack. Now 2 persons can sleep on the roof rack and 2 inside the bus
I'll post some photos of our Baja Califonia Adventures later. _________________ 1970 Double Cab. Stock engine (1600 SP)
