this thread is doing way better than i expected!
i of course cannot make everything in this thread, i don't have all the equipment and certainly don't have enough time but lets keep adding to the list in hopes that someone either has a resource or the ability to build the parts we all need _________________ if you can't bring it back in one piece, at least bring back all the pieces |

'68-'72 are different than '73-'74. The screw tabs on one sit deeper than the other. I tried to put a later one on my '72 and it was a no go.
So what does WCM really have? |

I found a WCM repop at a swap meet for 10$. From a guy who said it didn't fit his 77. I figured it would fit my 69 and it did. So there IS an early repop, I just don't know how to order it... _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

Rear retractable seat belt mounts:
Holes from the left:
Belt Pivot
Upper seat belt mount behind seat (below window)
Middle mount (may require captive nut installed, I think)
Seat belt roller

WCM got back to me and said 'yes we have them' but when I pressed them for details on which year it fits I got no response. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

hard to find a good image of an S&S main jet tool:
a screwdriver with a post the size of the hole in an S&S main jet. holds the jet securely while you install it. something like this for the Solex would be good. change the main jet without removing the bowl. _________________ 73 Beetle Baja, Ghia front brakes, Type 3 rear brakes, 2220 ( 94 X 80 ), Weber Progressive, Bosch SVDA, '97 Mustang seats

That is the factory rear retractable seat belt mount, and is naturally designed for the standard rear seat in a bus. Assuming no rot, the chances of that coming our are slim. _________________ Ben

That was an excessively negative comment.
Iirc, These mounts were sold in australia in compliance to local safety standards... And likely in many other places as well. I learned that from helpful people here in the baywindow forum sometime over the last 10 years.
Copellos, please take that negative energy elsewhere. _________________ Champagne Edition Roadtrip monster "Juakali"

An unfortunate truth is that, while I would love to see someone fab repros of these, the liability risks are high enough that I think many fabricators would steer clear.
That said, I have wondered about whether a top bolt arrangement (with a plate welded in above the window) would work as well. I don't want to peel my headliner apart to find out, so does anyone have any experience with this? This would utilize a rigid sash guide like so:

If i had one item on a wish list for the bus it would be these chrome vent covers. A member of the "Kombi Club" forums here in Australia found these in a VW parts store in Bali, but I have not found these anywhere else. What are the thoughts on these out of either stainless or aluminium.

There was an add on here about two years ago from Thailand or Philippines if I remember right. I got a set of them. They're two piece and brazed. The fit is ok... Not amazing work, but pretty good. It would be cool to see someone make a set of pressed ones.
FYI my bus goes so much faster with them on there. |

That seatbelt bracket for three point retractable belts would be great. Also, trans mount for automatics. I have been unable to find that anywhere. |

Umm. I want to like them. But I don't. Perhaps a picture of them on a rolling bus without the 80s Cal Bug/Bus pink paint job would change my mind I do appreciate the uniqueness though. _________________ Keep on Busin'
