Sorry about the multi pixs. My hand must have stuttered does have correct lid. 1987 restoration of an original Lake Tahoe based vehicle. I have adjusted valves at .006. The charging system does seem suspect as I drive last night's with lights on and I get a faint gen light. Got trickle on the battery while away. Will re visit issue Monday

Update; It is not the condenser, nor the fuel pump rod binding. I replaced the condenser and checked the actuator rod for freedom. Replaced coil with a used one and replaced the regulator with a new one which did solve the dim idiot light issue so that's good. I do not think it is vapor lock either, as it will not start with starting fluid or added gas to carburetor. I am coming to the conclusion it is simply a flooding problem. It will start using the standard 'open full throttle' to let things dry out and vaporize after sitting for thirty minutes or so. wish they made a 6 volt idle shut off. Has anyone tried to operate a 12 volt unit successfully on six volts? It just may be as good as it gets. Ever here the song; 12 Volt Man by Jimmy Buffet? I think that's me

Idle shut off only helps to keep engine from running on after shutting down a hot engine. Will not stop flooding due to carb/fuel pump getting heated up.

If you're really serious about operating a 12v shutoff solenoid in your 6v car, there are 6 to 12 volt power inverters available for purchase that'll do the job, just be warned that they aren't terribly cheap.

FYI. . . Installed 12 volt idle cutoff after testing on 6 volt battery successfully. It operated most of the time but would stop holding occasionally and the engine would quit. Pretty simple unit . A guy could make a living rewiring the coils
