Looks like a nice project. How’s Herbie doing? |
Herbie is still...well...Herbie. I rarely get to take him out with all the family responsibilities. I just re-striped him this winter because the vinyl stripes I put on in 1998 were fading. the 1776 is still finicky with the Kadrons on it, but it runs pretty good. how are you? _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

Just came across your thread and I enjoyed the story. Have you started doing anything to the 61, or when will you? And will you be posting pics? This would be a cool build to follow largely because of the story behind it. _________________ .

I have posted, but have neglected to update all of you on my 1961 build. I am down to needing 4 new tires and a front bumper and she is finally completed. As normal, I put new floor pans, heat channels and a TON of body work. I ended up finishing the painting in November 2014 and spent quite a bit of time wet sanding to a nice finish. I did the best I could to flatten out and clean up the original door cards. I re-sealed, cleaned and installed the original 1200 back into the car and she started right up the first try! There is so much more to list that has been done, but just can't type that much! Enjoy the pics!

Fantastic job. What a cool story man. I coulnt help but picture myself as a kid riding a bike around an imaginary bug. Glad you got to experience something like that. _________________ --inzel--

Well, she hit the road for the first time since 1980. I only ran the car 5 miles and, knock wood, no problems. It has been since a long time since I drove an original 40 hp 1200, I forgot how much you have the gas pedal on the floor. Nothing like the feeling the first time you pull out on the first stretch of road! _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.
