Ok maybe I shouldnt come out of the shoot so quick with this suff? So you guys that like stock turn around right here and go back home! LOL Im interested in a mostly off road Thing with streetability. With that said wheel travel and clearance is a big issue. So being the fenders are fiberglass and pre runner style anyway Im thinking about trimming off the front of the fenders to look much like the old jeep style fender. I will then install a high low beam H4 lens stand alone light on top of the fender. The plan is to use the stock turn indicator rubber gasket, cut an aluminum flat plate the same shape to fit just inside the turn light gasket lip. Then just sandwhich it all together. I think the weight is less than the stock bucket adjusters and bulbs. I will then use a some small LED lights for clearence and turn lights that are flush mounted. If weight turns out to be an issue I can build a brace under the fender for some support. Its kind of a ole school military Thing throw back look. Ok so what do ya think? Ive looked at hundreds of pics and I can honestly say I havent seen another one done this way. Maybe there is a good reason for that. LOL

That will look differnt. Maybe take a pic from the front and do some photo shop. I think it would look like a kubel wagen on roids.

Here are a couple of shots of a local (Texas) Thing that has a military theme. The current owner bought it like this. The fenders are chopped to eliminate the headlight bucket, and the existing blinker holes are used to mount the headlight and small blinkers.

My Thing is the red one; I'm more of a "keep it stock" (mostly) kind of guy, but I like the mods with the military theme. I think it works well. I have to admit though, it makes me cringe to think about chopping the fenders like that. Since your fenders are fiberglass, the cringe factor doesn't apply!

This is what it should look like when done right. Just don't do it to a pair of clean fenders.

Yes, with the fan on the rear, not top. That is why I extended the body out.
