|
|
I've had this 1966 for several months now and finally feel comfortable enough to tell the story. I held back because the last 21 I bought, I posted it, in my excitement, just to have someone post it on The Samba to claim it as stolen.
Well a lot of money gone to a thief and a bus given back to its owner. I licked my wounds (still trying to get something back by prosecuting Mark T. Espinoza) and debated whether I would do this again. This is the one I gave back.
Well I did and here is my current 1966 as I received it. Anyone recognize it?
And here it is now

Sorry to hear about the first bus, did the original seller have the title in his name and did it match the stamped VIN? I've had a few expensive learning lessons in my life, all you can do is move forward (as you have) and learn from it.
Good luck with the new bus, looks good. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Yes, I did learn from it. No title..no deal, and never post your ride until you have your title in your name in your hand. |

I hope the guy who stole that bus and sold it to you is in prison right now; Sounds like a nightmare of an experience.
Anyway, glad you found another bus. Nice interior.
I have the same Free Leonard Peltier numper sticker on my rear bumper. _________________ WANTED:

Damn straight! I hope he gets what he deserves. He isn't in jail yet. Apparently, there is only one cop in charge of San Diego auto theft division.
But, thanks for joining me in your wishes for him. |

I read your post that you wrote back in April 2014 & I am so sorry to hear that you got scammed by a conscienceless crook.
Some of us can lose a few bucks on a scam and we usually heal our pride and financial wounds easily. But losing $17,000!....man, if that happened to me, I would probably suffer from anger and depression for months....adding to that, I will probably have to get use to sharing the dog house with our family dog.
It was very commendable of you to have done the right thing even though it really hurt. I wish the real owner would have the decency to give you the $5000 reward that he/she offered for the return of the 21-window that was stolen.
Whenever I buy a bus, I always get the VIN# and call DMV (1-800-777-0133) to check if the bus/bug was ever reported stolen. _________________ 1966 Riviera camper Bus

Yeah, that was just one more lie I had to deal with. He said he couldn't believe he got a call and that he was happy to give me the reward. Shit…he gets his bus and walks, never, to be heard from again. Another liar saying whatever it takes to get he wants. Blah..Blah..Blah. Sorry for the rant |

That is very frustrating. There are good people out there too even though it seems sometimes like they're aren't. You just happen to be the good guy in this situation... _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

I'm really happy for you to finally get the bus you worked hard for and yes sucks to get scammed but at least you are back on your feet with another Samba. We all learn the hard way and hopefully we learn from others too. Enjoy your new bus and keep us updated. _________________ American Red Cross Safe And Well:

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |
