(Bus belongs to Ronnie in Lake Havasu, other pics in gallery, I think there is a thread somewhere on the build, involved raised spindles not bay beam)

Lets see someone come up with some custom raised RGBs.

Design a new box with a third gear between axle drive gear and stub axle gear to lift.
Axle rotation would be the same as stock straight axle.

Saw this bus at a Vintage Meet in Seattle several years back. I think it was being built by Franklin's. No idea what ever happened to it.

the suspension is probably sitting in his shop somewhere pretty sure he sold the bus with different suspension soon after that show
he's never had a great track record with finishing his own projects usually ends up selling them Wink

There was a MASSIVE oval window baja bug in Colorado built like that, probably 20 years ago or more.

IRS with reduction boxes would be the ultimate.

I looked into fabbing some RGB's with a dual roller chain setup, but it was just too complicated for my skills. Talked with a friend who does that shit for a living, and he said it would be very tough to make it all work right and be driveable at highway speeds.

Have you ever seen the rear drive system from the 70's agricultural vehicle called a Spra-coupe? There is a VW industrial engine and an early bay bus tranny in there. that is connected to those tall white boxes inside of each wheel. Pretty sure that is a chain drive setup.

i have early bay front beam ( raises the front about 2" ) and re indexed the spring plates in the rear ( big nut redux boxes), coil over shocks in front and stock style shocks in the rear. running bug smoothies in front and crows feet rims in rear. no rubbing on the street, going back to big bend state park for thanksgiving weekend to put it to the test. we went last year and had a blast, took a few of the 4wd hi clearance trails, and buses did great.
