Hi, I'm new to TheSamba. I bought a Doka for the classifieds on the Samba and when I went to pick it up after flying from Utah to Maryland then driving 10 1/2 hours one way, it was gone. I know it sounds like BS. I figure the best place to look for it is on this forum. I bought it from Rob in Ontario Canada. The VIN is WV2VB0242FH026076 It's a white 85 Doka. Apparently it was his tenant who took it. He also tried to steal his syncro single cab. If anyone has seen it, let me know. I'm not too savy on posting, the pic is in the stolen vw section. Thank you.

Really sorry to hear this...
Have you already paid for it?

Sounds kinda fishy... at first blush.

Does "Rob" post here on the Samba?

Yes, I paid for it. I am still in contact with him so I don't think he is scamming me. But I am a car idiot!

If you paid but were unable to take delivery because no such vehicle existed, you have a refund coming.

I flew to Maryland because my brother lives there and I borrowed his truck and trailer to bring it back to the US. Now that it is the proverbial "Monday morning" I should have called the police. I was dumbfounded when I got there. Yes, not being there seems like I got scammed but I really believe the seller. I got a Bill of sale.

ah ok that makes more sense, so you never received the title which means you technically dont own it yet so the seller will be refunding you then?

Silver creek motors- how can you be a car idiot with a user name like that?

If you bought the vehicle and it was gone before you took posession of it and the seller is being a stand up guy by offering a refund then you don't really own it. There are several dokas in the classifieds at all times it seems if you really "need" one.
Good luck

So, Rob offered to return your money and you said what exactly in response?

Step one: GET YOUR MONEY BACK (really a no-brainer).

Step two: Locate lost doka (if it actually exists)

Step three: Purchase said doka if all is in order.

At this point in time there is NO REASON for the 'seller' to have any of your money. Do not believe anything the 'seller' says until the money is returned to you. I honestly can't think of a reason that you would have paid the seller before taking possession of the vehicle. A deposit maybe, but not the purchase price.

It looks like the fuel lines are smoking in that pic, so perhaps you dodged a bullet

Not sure what you are saying, why wouldn't he post a photo if he needed one to create this thread?

Rob's ad, with photos:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1779690

The photo he posted above is not in the ad but I typically assume that any buyer with a brain got more photos of the vehicle they are buying so... obviously he has other photos of the vehicle.

Wow.

Someone stole a $1500, non-running DOKA!?

That's crazy.

Apologies. Rare episode of skepticism on my part. Embarassed

New thread name:

"Help - someone stole the Doka I was about to complete the purchase of"?? You need your money back now. You never owned it and the seller who owned it owes you the money back. If you'd have been given possession of the vehicle and the title/signed and notarized Bill of Sale, and THEN it was stolen - you'd be the new owner. But you never owned it.

Now-I've seen & heard it all--

A non-running junk was stolen.

By looking at the deep ruts there by that truck--it surely was moving around quite a bit --

Yea--right--
