Have been busy trying to get the bus ready for bulli, here are some updates on the cabinets
We ended up cleaning and repairing the original cabinets and reveneering them.
It would have been easier to just build new, but I wanted to keep as much of the original as possible

we have repaired the original veneer and we will laminate new veneer over the top of the original.
I just had the stove cabinet in there to fit the seat base. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

work looks awesome!
I cant help but feel like I'm inside a bus full of zebra skins though. some 70's psychedelic trip.
were you looking for highly figured veneer? or is that all you could find? _________________ drive your split. |

Jake, thanks for the compliment (I think), I spent 8 months searching for someone in the USA to lay up limba veneer. Based on the samples and the first test sheet I purchased. I thought the company nailed the pattern. Now that you have pointed it out, I see what you are talking about. Fortunately it does not stand out that much when looking at with the naked eye.

Is there anyway to do this at home? My subhatch trim needed to be cleaned and in doing so removed a lot of that texture. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

yep, it's called engine turning. I'd bet Gibbs can show you how to do it, it's done in sign painting (and lowrider striping) all the time
eastwood used to sell a kit, but I don't see it now _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |
