This is Wheeler Dealers, a show that I like to watch. I believe the van turned out to be the biggest resale flop of the series.

Hard to believe they sorted out the the WBX engine (which smoked while driving) for 160 pounds or about $250. That included a new exhaust too.

I watched it until he started painting the interior with a roller, then realized they are just “fix & flip” guys ruining classic cars.

Nice BBC show..probably all staged and scripted with the concluding drama about turning a profit. I've seen the show a few times..and doubt the authenticity..if you ever see an older car in Britain..they are very, very rusty.

Not an ideal environment for "flipping" classic cars and honestly making a profit.

A guy from Birmingham, England came by my place to buy some Vanagon parts and I was talking about the show with him. He said he was a fan. I haven't seen it in a few years...

it is a diesel. Edd kept the van for himself. I kinda like the final result...he took an absolute turd and made a useable and respectable camper.

It's a tough show to judge by one episode. In the early years, they were more about fix & flip, but have done some decent restorations more recently. They've done pretty much every one of my favorite cars:

MK1 GTI
Triumph TR6
Mercedes 190 Cosworth 16V
Mercedes G Wagen
Porsche 928
Audi UR Quattro

And Ed (the mechanic) is a VW guy.

It is just a story..like a movie..all fake

The BBC will be crushing, sailing then sinking or crashing that Vanagon on Top Gear..if they really care about recycling stage props.

It's actually a pretty good show. As noted the early shows were kinda bad, but production values and the end results get much better each season.

The only really fake part about the profits they get for the vehicles is the lack of accounting for Ed's labor and shop time. But then the whole idea behind the show is about fixing and flipping cars on your own time. Of course the average bloke doesn't own a full shop with lift! Some of the quick fixes bug me, but then it's about flipping, not restoration.

I like the show because it's fun. Not a lot of arguing and fake drama like some of the others. (Classic Car Rescue for one!)

Ed is a pretty good mechanic and holds/held world records for fastest toilet, bedstead, and other off the wall vehicles.

I've heard of Paint Over Rust, but never Wrap Over Rust. Hope its not going to be resold as a restored classic.

This does make me feel much better about the quality of my build.
