Can these be purchased from another source as I have had no replies. Are there any other contacts. What's the story?
Thanks

I'd suggest letting Newton Carpet and Wolfsburg West know you are interested. WW makes really nice mats for bugs and NC made decent ghia mats at one time. |

There certainly is a market for these mats.... its evident from the number of outstanding orders which are with John Lemke. I, like everyone else have been waiting years for their mats which quite frankly is becoming a joke!!! |

I've asked KGPR sales support folks to let Scott know that the authenticity buffs are waiting for the Ghia mats to become available. I mentioned I could buy a set of reproduction Porsche 356 rubber floor mats and VW bug and bus floor mats any day of the week, so was wondering what the hold-up was for the Ghia.
Maybe if KGPR gets flooded with floor mat requests by phone and email over time, it could help. |

^^ Good idea; or write Scott directly. I wish I had the time and connections to make them, and I could retire early. Check these exact reproduction MGB rubber floor mats from a British car parts house for $35. What does that say about the cost to make (well, once set up costs are paid)?

And our members are willing to pay $400? Wow! |

It’s all been said before; stop flogging a dead horse, no one in their right mind will set up to do these.
The Karmann Ghia mats, especially the bulkhead mat, is the most difficult mat to make; as it requires a massive outlay just to make the mold.
Yes you can buy rubber “mats” for all different makes and models, but they are mostly flat or have minor shaping.
It will be a long time before someone stumps up the cash to invest in a mold, to pump out just a few mats which will cost the buyers huge to buy a mat; and the person who makes these will be left with another white horse and a great big hole in their bank balance. _________________ Cheers,

Silly question I'm sure, but who made the mats originally and are the molds still available? Are they just sitting in a vw warehouse/factory somewhere in Germany? |

There was a Phoenix Rubber Company in Memphis. Looks like they're gone, but there are a few other rubber manufacturing places there. |
