Hey all. I am kicking an idea around for a very clean '71 Bay Westfalia that may be running a bit higher oil temps than what the owner may desire. I have produced a list of items to control this, beginning with the less expensive. I brought up the idea of the 356/912 generator pulley "mod" or "upgrade", if you will.
The main issue is this bus has the original 38 amp generator, which uses the unique pulley in order to maintain belt alignment.
My question is: has anyone tried the Porsche generator pulley with this unique generator. Questions seem easier than ordering $100 in parts and then finding out pulley alignment is a problem. Even in this Los Angeles area not many 912 used parts floating around.
For what it is worth this Bay has a stock 1600, DP, 34 carb, DVDA distrib, and stock 3 qt oil system. Monitoring will be with a BERG oil temp dipstick.
Thanks in advance, Bill.
