The motor and transmission are out of my 73 Automatic. While I'm repairing the heater tubes I'd like to know if the shifter cable for the auto transmission goes under or through the cross member. When I got it, the cable was under the crossbar and the heater tube was gone. Any pictures? Thanks _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

Gimme a little bit and I'll snap a photo. My auto is on my workbench, but it's raining. I'll crawl under the bus in a bit. _________________ 1979 Mexico Beige Westy auto

In my auto it goes through the crossmember. Mine is a '77 though, so it's a different transmission and the linkage is solid tube not a cable. Sorry, I suppose that's not actually helpful. _________________ 1977 Westy, Automatic. Big Valve heads, CS Cam. |

Just like Whirled said, mine's the 010 also. But both linkages (throttle and shift cable) go through the crossmember. Mine's a little crushed from PO use, but they still go through it.

thanks greg-that looks like what I needed. I guess a previous owner replaced the cable on mine and just let it hang below the cross member. Cheers! _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"
