I think that's the clearest picture of a Barndoor 15 ever. Cool

Driving School?

Imagine being able to say you learned to drive in a pre-53 BD 15w.

I guess it might not be but it does have a lot of Deluxe Features that might not be seen on a converted Bus - rear window jail bars, rear deck luggage rails, deluxe bumpers, and so on.

It's weird it doesn't have belt line trim though.

exactly what I was thinking ! I can't imagine they would have removed the trim back in the 1950s and gone through the hassles of welding up all the dozens of holes. Looking closely to the luggage rails, they somehow don't look factory to me. Knowing from what I have seen with the Kohlruss and other coachbuilts, they just modified a lot of cars back then and this could easily be an 11wdw or even a panel converted to 15wdw looks.

The wheels don't have trim rings either. just 2 tone paint.
I think there's a coachbuilders emblem to the lower corner of the front cargo door. Remember that these driving school cars back then had to have a second full set of pedals for the teacher on the other side too, so there was a lot of conversion work to be done anyways. Can you spot the screws for a RH backview mirror also ?

Some kind of weirdness around the top of the window above "FAHRS." I suppose it could just be an odd reflection but I would expect it to look similar to the other windows around it, and at least line up at the top:

Good eye Jack, do you think it only has two pop outs and the rest of the windows are fixed?

Maybe that's it. Just so poorly aligned that the top half is almost flush with the surround?

Yes, pop outs in 3rd row only, but somehow the windows look phoney. I can't really explain that. at least some of it looks coachbuilt to me.

I agree that popout window looks weird but a Bus from that era would normally only have 2 popouts.
