For anybody following this thread and possibly thinking of ordering screen inserts I will be taking a short Hiatus from screen building due to other business commitments over the coming 2~3 weeks. I am currently out of stock on front screens. I do have a limited supply of rear slider tintop screens and a reasonable stock of skylight screens that can ship but once they are gone I won't build more until later in the month. Any orders already paid have been shipped and all pending orders will be processed.
Sorry if this inconveniences anyone.

Keep them as flat as possible when not in use. A piece of plywood cut slightly oversized would be ideal and self contained with a few bungees but not too tight. The screens are well supported all around the perimeter when installed in the window frame but could be deformed if stored bend or twisted or with pressure applied especially if the temperatures are hotter. Mine have mostly been free in the rear hatch area of my westy without issue but its only me using my van so I am careful. Your results with spouses and or kids may vary.
Thanks

No "WE" (read I) didn't I guess. Got busy with a big work project and forgot. I have the pics you sent so I will take a new look at this and see if it might work.

well a quick review of my TINTOP rear screen CAD drawing shows they are 15.25" tall by 16.5" long. So it seems likely the length is ok but overall height might be a bit too much. They bend slightly in the middle to insert into the top then bottom track so are slightly taller than the distance top to bottom at the rubber the glass slides in. If you have access to a vanagon locally you might make the same measurements on the bay and the vanagon and see how they compare. I can certainly adjust the height slightly to compensate. Unfortunately I have no access to a bay with sliders and had you not pointed it out to me I would not have known it existed. Unfortunately given the fact they are so rare it is not a screen I will get much demand for.

Not everybody wants maximum screen area and I just did several sets of these custom small slider vent screens. If there is any demand I could make them available to everyone. They look kinda neat and I think I may do a set for my own van!.

I received my tin-top slider/front screens this week. I had them at the beach along with a rear hatch screen and they performed great! Gerald was great to deal with and they fit like a charm... |

Did I miss something, Gerald? I think I read every post on this topic....but what is the frame made of? The screen material?
They are really awesome looking...I think the flat black really adds some "punch" to the look. _________________ 1987 Vanagon Westfalia (manual) - "Van Hildegaard"

Sorry for the late reply but for some reason the forum didn't let me know there was a post. The screens are made of PVC plastic as they need to be sufficiently flexible to bend into the door frame the screen is a high quality fiberglass screening with a very find "No SEE-UM" mesh to keep even the smallest of pests out!

As an added bonus to my normal plain brown wrapper I decided to get a little creative on this package with a sharpie to add to the excitement when it shows up at the door! Its hard to improve on the vanagon camping experience but I feel that my screens can certainly help out with your sleeping comfort and keep the bugs out at the same time.
Any vanagon owner would be happy to see my package arrive with the post but its Mark C in Seattle that will get to enjoy these in a week or so! Thanks Mark!

Yet another soon to be happy camper in Seattle once his front and rear screens arrive! The PNW is definately one of my most frequent ship to areas! This time the van is a Tintop vanagon! Thanks Rob L. Hope these serve you well!
I know I won't win any awards for my artwork but I get bored sometimes, it's like a restless creativity! Guess I should design another useful vanagon product, just need to have another good idea.

Effective immediately I have discontinued manufacturing my front window screen inserts. In an effort to streamline production and still be able to offer the rear screens I have also gone to a single one size fits most on the rear slider insert. This common size will fit most all westy or tintop vanagons with a minimum glass opening of 12" but I can adjust smaller if required at no extra charge.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have questions or concerns please contact me by PM. After 3 seasons and 500 plus screens shipped I am restructuring to pursue other projects and products. I will try to continue the rear screens for as long as possible but may choose to stop without notice but so if it is something you desire I suggest you act. _________________ Gerald
