Later on, a 2800 went through a tank every 4-5 days.

Karl, any idea why the 2800 uses more fuel? Does it have something to do with higher heat output, hence shorter on time, lowering the efficiency in your case? Or was the temperature set higher, because you could? I know with household furnaces for example, it is important to set the size based on the heat requirement -- bigger is not always better.
Curious, because a Propex is in my plans, but I want to get the 'correct' size, which I have assumed would be the 2800.
Thanks,

Hard to remember exactly, but I suspect I was in colder conditions and cranking it higher 'because I could'. That old van had a lot of leakage and poor insulation in the end as well. Better insulation and windows covered will help a lot. |

How many amp-hrs of aux battery is necessary to keep the Propex running for 12hrs?
Imagine maybe the draw on the aux battery, not the LP capactiy, might be the determiner of a successful overnight use? _________________ ----------------------------------------------------

Of course that depends on the conditions. How cold out, how warm do you set the thermostat, top up or not....what did you have in mind? _________________ Dave O

1.9 amps x number of hours = amp-hours required. Unless the temps are below the teens and van no well insulated, figure on less than 50% duty cycle. |

So, while the Propex can maybe run 35+ hrs on a full stock LP tank.
1.9amp x 35+hrs = 66.5 amp-hours of battery.
if had 50% duty cycle on the Propex.... could maybe survive with 33.25 amp-hrs
just trying to figure... if I have about 44amp-hrs of aux battery, can my propex keep me warm 8p-8a... sounds like it could do it, possibly... _________________ ----------------------------------------------------

Yes it should for a day, unless you can not recharge your battery. I would consider getting more CAPACITY, a lot more so you can power everything else in your van including the Propex. _________________ '15 Audi A3 Quattro
