A Deluxe dash will bolt into a Standard. Wonder why anyone hasn't done it yet. Gerson makes them, so it's not like "Oh my God! You've ruined a perfectly good "rare" Deluxe dash!" The clock or radio pod would make for a great gauge trio location. All of which could be easily reversed of course. I think the different reactions would be great to see from people who know what they are looking at. I think I'm going to do it one day when my cash and a Barndoor finally meet. _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

you actually have to drill holes, and install nutplates/nuts to innstall a deluxe dash in a non deluxe bus, or like some people do down here, weld the dash in ......most of the BDs down here have deluxe dashes installed, so do the BD singlecabs....kind of makes you wonder where are the deluxe buses, who "donated" their dashes.....cut to pieces I bet..... _________________ that's not patina, that's fucking rust man!!!!

Here's a '54 standard that has a deluxe dash;
It was installed atleast prior to ~1974....and maybe as early as '57 when the bus was lowered. |

Was this ever a factory option to have a deluxe dash in a standard? I've seen a couple like this so was just curious?
Cheers,

Yep. They were fitted to some standard taxi's. Usually the centre pod was different however. There is also a smoothgate that has what very much looks like a from fractory deluxe dash. Now that's odd! _________________ 1951 Samba 20-017894

I don't know what part is worse. Ruining an iconic barndoor (This was pictured in volksworld in Rikki's column and made me want a split) or the fact it's painted pg sg. |
