distributor should give you a wineing noise and can be fixed with a noise suppressor;
crackle might be the speaker is broken or loose
New repop speaker is less than ten bucks at Wolfsburg West _________________ 63 two fold rag

A bad speaker, a bad power or speaker connections, or a cracked solder joint -- these are the usual suspects. A failing part cannot be ruled out. In your advantage is that you have some function, which should should make troubleshooting easier. After checking all external connections you may want to find an old school electronics repair shop. _________________

Nope none of the above,
Static,and poping when eng. Is running, like I said was perfect before eng. Rebuild..nothing like a resistor in dist? _________________ .

This is only happening when the car's running, right? Does the noise change in any way when you rev the engine? If so, check the plugs to make sure they're the resistor type. Are the plug wires shielded?

No resistor, but you might check to see if the condenser was replaced during the rebuild. _________________ '63 Ragtop (current)

Rcooled are not all plug wires created equal....or do some have resistors in the wiring?
And if the condenser is new or the old one used? Does that make a difference?
Thanks for help

Some wires have a compressed-copper core, or are jacketed in wire mesh to suppress radio static. Un-shielded copper wire (found in the standard Bosch VW cable set) acts like an antenna to broadcast RFI. If you use these wires, you need to pair them with resistor-type spark plugs.

The condenser helps to minimize sparking at the ignition points when they open & close. This is another source of RFI. Condensers usually last a good long time, but you never know... _________________ '63 Ragtop (current)

...or regular plugs plus the OEM resistor (1KΩ) bakelite SP connectors. |
